This gamemode features jobs (or roles) such as police, gangsters, citizens, and gun dealers (a kind of merchant), and is arguably the most popular gamemode of Garry's Mod to date. Players are often given the means to "raid" other players by breaking into their homes/bases and either stealing or destroying valuable entities. This gamemode is a non-serious role-play gamemode, where players often build large bases to protect themselves and various entities that can produce money. Its active development has changed hands a number of times, but for the past couple of years it has been maintained primarily by Falco or FPtje as he is more commonly known by online. DarkRP was created as a modification to the long-since abandoned LightRP, as an easier-to-modify alternative. Others are less serious, with no fixed setting or character requirements. Some gamemodes are more serious than others, requiring players to role-play as a military grunt, or as an oppressed citizen, or even a character in a fictional universe. While most gamemodes are typically for role play (RP) purposes, some gamemodes can encourage creative construction while others simply provide a simple deathmatch setting. A bug in Prop Hunt is that if you move the mouse around when a hunter is looking right at you, they can sometimes see your player name briefly.Garry's Mod has several gamemodes that can alter the way it's played. The smaller the prop, the harder you might be to spot, but the less health you have.įinally, be careful looking around when hunters are nearby. However, when a player becomes a prop, they are always upright, and always remain facing the same direction from everyone else's perspective. Something to note: when you are a prop, it looks to you like you’re turning when you look around.
If you just want to pick up a prop without becoming a copy of it, use Ctrl+E. Setting the prop back down undisturbed is harder than it sounds, sometimes impossible. This picks up the prop if it’s small enough, and makes you look like the prop. When you find a prop that you want to become a copy of, you press E.
Keep in mind that not all props let you copy them, it depends on the map. A prop is anything on the map that is not a part of the map itself (so tables and chairs are usually props, while doors and walls are not). You get a head start to go hide while the hunters are blindfolded.
As a player prop, you begin the round as Dr.
